Job Title: Group Accountant
Location: Southampton
Job Type: Full time
Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer
Salary: £45,000 - £48,000
Main duties and responsibilities:
· Daily accessing the various bank accounts and printing bank statements
· Daily updating cash flow from bank statements
· Posting bank statement on Sage and reconciling bank accounts via cash book
· Posting of sales and purchase invoices onto Sage
· Credit control from cash flow and aged debtors report from Sage
· Bi-weekly payment run from aged creditors and supplier statements
· International and UK payments through internet banking
· Monitoring cash flow forecast repayment for account transfers
· Payment of monthly salaries and journal posting of the same into Sage
· Payment of monthly PAYE to HMRC
· Payment of overseas salaries and corresponding payments
· VAT returning – submitting quarterly for UK and publishing
· Monthly accounts – processing of TB, balance sheet, and profit & loss account
· Reconciling and posting of monthly company credit cards/statements
· Petty cash – reconciling and monitoring of same
· Contact with external accountants for monthly salary information and Year End accounts
· Supplier/customer contact for accounts related inquiries
· Preparing monthly and quarterly reports for CEO
· Analysis of customers purchases showing trend and variances
· Comparisons of purchases of different products per customer
· Preparation of costing spread sheets to update prices and calculate profit
· Preparation of month management accounts for the group with monthly flash reports and quarterly detailed reports.
· Ad hoc analysis when required for meetings
· Knowledge of International VAT for Ocean going vessels
· Providing information as requested by external accountants
· Overseeing all accounts work
· Maintain awareness of and comply with the Company Quality Policy and application Company Procedures.
Profile:
· ACCA/CIMA/ACA qualified OR qualified by experience
· Experience of working as an Accountant in SMEs
· Strong knowledge of Sage is essential
· Strong communication and management skills
· Excellent time management skills
· All round tax experience
· Team player
